Bio: Ron Feintech
Sexual and Marital Therapist
Ron received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1969 from the University of Nebraska. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School, he began his career at the Boston University Counseling Center. He was first certified as a sex therapist by AASECT in 1978. While taking a sabbatical, he studied transpersonal and humanistic psychology at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA. Ron completed a three month silent Buddhist retreat at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA in 1980.Ron began practicing in Portland in 1984. In the 90’s, he took advanced training in Integrated Sexual and Marital therapy with Dr. David Schnarch. Ron’s life-altering adventure with Debra began in 1998. They began seeing couples and developed their skills as facilitators of Conscious Relationship. He and Debra (http://www.thecouplescentermaine.com/counselors/debra-feintech.htm) studied with leading teachers and have created their own synthesis, establishing The Couples Center in 2002.
Ron has continued his spiritual studies over the years and has delved deeply into Eastern and Western paths to Spirit. He currently practices Buddhism, and his work as a therapist is informed by his years of Zen practice and study. His perspective is holistic and comprehensive, encompassing dimensions of body, mind, relationships, and spirit.
Ron co-parents two excellent stepsons with Deb, parents his adult daughter and son-in-law and is the grandfather of three excellent grandchildren.
